Have a B.S. (Honors) in Physical Education and Health science taking MORE science classes than a BSN! Have Associates (Honors) in Nursing for 27 yrs. No hospital will hire me, total BS!!!!

I so so totally agree!!!!! I have been a nurse for 21 yrs. I went through a assoc. Of science -nursing program. One of the best in the state and I by far feel I am better trained then a BSN.

It's not just magnet hospitals that suffer from this sort of silliness toward nurses. Nurses are micromanaged and disrespected, increasingly, all across the spectrum. Don't go into nursing.

Sandy Boguszewski
Oh so true ! That is why I retired after forty - one years of bedside nursing.

That was great. I worked for a 4 time Magnet hospital left one year ago after 15 YEARS. More work on your own time and no more pay.

WOW! You hit it. The only omission is real time charting that takes away from actual patient care. Good job!
18.05.2015 13:30

A lot of 'truth-telling' in this essay!! Time compression and burnout are sky-rocketing. Seasoned nurses are opting out. Commitee membership is being tied to 'stewardship ' and performance appraisal.

I agree with some of the statements in this article but not all. There are many BSN nurses who stay in direct nursing care. For that matter there are MSN nurses who are clinical specialists in direct

Magnet is a journey STRAIGHT TO HELL!! I have been doing this for more than 30 yrs& there is not a pill or a program or an app that can replace an human empathy& experience of a nurse!

CNA FOR 30 YRS.

I have retired from nursing but over my 32 years on the job I have watched nurses being taken farther and farther from the bedside. Nursing was no longer what I entered nursing for.

Why are you throwing the Affordable Care Act under the bus? You speak of the "looming threat of Obamacare", and then nothing more to explain or support your knee jerk opposition to this legislation.
